Free Dental Checkups & Pedigree Dentastix June 2012!

We are pleased to be offering free pet dental health checks throughout June as part of Pedigree Dental Care Month. The check-ups are free for dogs, cats and rabbits registered at any of our four branches, all of which are participating in the promotion.

Nick Turner, veterinary surgeon here at Ash Tree explains why it is so important for owners to keep an eye on their pet’s oral health. “Most humans have a dental check-up at least once a year but we rarely do the same for our pets. However, they are prone to exactly the same sorts of mouth problems as people are – tooth decay, gum disease, ulcers and abscesses to name but a few. With regular check-ups, these problems can often be prevented.”

Signs that an animal may be experiencing dental problems include reluctance to eat or play, favouring one side of the mouth when eating or chewing or pawing at the mouth. “We would encourage as many owners as possible to take advantage of this free service during June,” adds Nick. “

Update: Claire King Lectures at BSAVA Congress

On Friday 13th April Claire King registered veterinary nurse here at Ash Tree, lectured to over two hundred vets and nurses on the subject of Rabbit Clinics at the British Veterinary Small Animal Congress (BSAVA).

The annual event, which took place this year at the Birmingham Indoor Arena, is of major significance in the veterinary calender with vets and nurses travelling from all over the world to attend. Claire, who runs Rabbit clinics at Ash Tree’s Market Harborough branch on Friday afternoons, spoke on the subject during her 45 minutes lecture which was very well received by the delegates. Claire commented “I really enjoyed the experience and would certainly do it again”.
