Weekend weather puts cat care on the agenda Written by Alastair on October 7th, 2011 Posted in Cat news, Pet News, Vets in Desborough, Vets in Harborough District, Vets in Kibworth, Vets in Rothwell
Cat care could be high on the agenda for Market Harborough owners over the coming weekend as the recent heatwave becomes more of a distant memory.
Last weekend saw record-breaking temperatures, with some parts of the UK pushing the 30°C mark, but unsettled conditions have set in over the course of the week.
On Tuesday, some parts of the Midlands were subject to a weather warning from the Met Office due to strong winds, and temperatures throughout Leicestershire could be up to 10° lower than last week by Sunday daytime.
For pet owners – particularly those with older cats – the onset of inclement weather conditions raises the need to cater for a creature’s needs.
Older cats may be more susceptible to draughts, even when indoors, making it important to position their bed away from any draughty windows or doors.
They may also suffer from a loss of bladder control; when the weather is too severe for them to have access to the garden, an indoor litter tray could be a good alternative.
