Vets help keep dogs happy on the move Written by Alastair on October 31st, 2011 Posted in Dog News, Pet News, Vets in Desborough, Vets in Harborough District, Vets in Kibworth, Vets in Rothwell

Advice from the Dogs Trust and insurance comparison site Confused.com suggests that dog owners seek the help of a qualified vet if taking their pet on a car journey when he or she has a history of travel sickness.

The recommendation is one of a number made by the companies, following the publication of their research into how owners keep their pets happy on the road.

Music is a big help in keeping pets happy – most motorists use the radio to soothe their dogs, but some admitted to singing while at the wheel to achieve the same effect.

Overall, one in four claimed that their dog or cat stays happy on long journeys, as long as they put in the effort to keep their pet amused along the way.

However, for those with specific health concerns about their creatures, the companies behind the research recommend seeking expert advice:

“If your dog is travel sick, or does not travel well, seek advice from your vet, and only use medication prescribed specifically for your dog by your vet.”

At Ash Tree Vets, you can learn more about the health issues facing your dog during his or her everyday life by attending one of our special pet clinics – including chances for young puppies to meet other dogs their own age.
